AURELIA is an offline-first desktop authoring and AI-assisted publishing platform. We aim to minimize data collection and keep you in control, especially when working offline.

1. Information we may collect

Depending on what you do on our website and in the product, we may collect:

• Website requests: standard server logs (e.g., IP address, user agent, requested page, timestamp) used for security and reliability.
• Support communications: information you send when contacting us (e.g., name, email address, message contents).
• Licensing / subscriptions: information required to validate a license or subscription (e.g., license key or subscription token, and technical metadata necessary for validation).
• Optional analytics/monitoring: if you enable product features that report usage or costs (e.g., AI usage tracking), those features may generate and display usage records.

2. Local-first / desktop-first design

AURELIA Desktop is designed to work offline for core authoring. You can write and edit documents without sending your content to external services.

3. AI features and content handling

AI features are optional. When you choose to use AI, the information sent depends on the mode you select:

• Local AI (e.g., Ollama): processing happens on your machine when properly configured.
• BYO-Key providers (AURELIA Pro+): requests are sent to the third-party provider you configure using your credentials.
• AURELIA AI Cloud: requests are sent to AURELIA cloud services for managed gateway access.

In all cases, you control what content you submit for AI processing.

4. API keys / credentials

If you use BYO-Key features, you may provide API keys or credentials for third-party AI services. Treat these as sensitive secrets. AURELIA is designed to store credentials securely where supported by the operating system, and to never display full secrets in the UI when it can be avoided.

5. How we use information

• To deliver the website and downloads reliably
• To provide support and respond to inquiries
• To validate licenses/subscriptions and prevent abuse
• To improve product quality and reliability (when optional diagnostics are enabled)

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers only as needed to operate the website, deliver downloads, process payments, or provide AI features you explicitly enable.

7. Retention

We retain support communications and operational logs only as long as necessary for their purpose, security, and legal obligations.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure; please avoid sending sensitive personal information over email.
